Diamond Star Ranch began with these two wild horses that were adopted from the Bureau of Land Management. Braveheart arrived so frightened, his instinct told him to run. Cheyenne on the other hand had given up entirely and did not care about anything. Most horse training programs begin with trust. We knew these guys had no trust in people and decided to approach it a different way. We started by teaching them what their responsibilities were. They had to behave, eat, etc... Then we introduced mutual respect and finally we were able to help them realize their worthiness. By the time we were done with that, we had earned their trust and built an amazing relationship that has not been able to be compared with domestic horses. Through teaching responsibility, respect and realization of self worth, these two have have come from being diamonds in the ruff to brilliantly shining stars.
Then children started visiting, some frightened and some not caring. We were all to familiar with this situation and new they had no trust for people. So we took the three R’s and applied them to a wonderful ranch program that does the same for children. This is not riding lessons, its life lessons combined with a whole bunch of fun.
